Veganuary may be one of the worst catchphrases coined (it ain’t no sober October), but it’s still a good opportunity to challenge your regular eating habits.

More and more people concerned with their own health and the health of the planet are looking to follow a plant-based lifestyle. As a fledgeling vegetarian, I can attest as to how difficult this is, and how the world is really not set up for non-meat eaters.

But don’t panic, there are plenty of fantastic recipes out there that could make the transition to veganism less traumatic than you might think. So here are 4 great ideas for a vegan breakfast that won’t taste of dirt.

1. Protein Pancakes

I frickin’ love pancakes and would have them every day if I had the patience to make them. And while they seem like a sinful childhood treat, there are plenty of ways to make pancakes that are actually pretty healthy.

By substituting a few ingredients for clever alternatives like Chocolate Flavdrops, and adding vegan protein powder, you’ll be able to come up with all sorts of flavours that are low in calories and high in protein.

Try the MyProtein Vegan Chocolate Protein Pancakes or their Cookie Dough Protein Pancakes.

2. High-Protein Vegan Breakfast Smoothie

Don’t have the time or patience to cook a complicated vegan breakfast every morning? Bung a few healthy, high-protein, vegan ingredients into a blender, chuck in some vegan protein powder, and you’re ready to go!

3. Healthy Porridge Recipes

You’ve probably had porridge plenty of times, but have you ever had Mint Chocolate High Protein Porridge, tried to make overnight oats? There are loads of combinations to try that are all healthy AND tasty!

4. Hearty Chickpea Scramble

Scrambled chickpeas sound gross, but tastes ridiculously delicious. Scrambled eggs are such a staple of any gym-goers diet, so the thought of not having them every morning is unsettling. But seriously, once you give the chickpeas a go, you’ll never look back.
